Need ability to Sort Globally by more than one categories
Right now you can sort all or sort only by 1 category. Would be good if there could be a checkbox or some option to select and sort by multiple categories.

Allow the admin(s) to enter hourly rates for all the users/employees in projecturf.
Currently I believe individual users have to enter this information which is problematic when managing a large team/project.

Move a project to a new folder without having to drag it up thru all unassigned projects
We have hundreds of projects going at once, and it is very difficult and time consuming to drag a project up to a folder when you have to drag it up thru hundreds of other unassigned projects. Having the option to select multiple projects to move to a folder at one time, or being able to right click (or control click) on a project and select 'move to folder' and select a folder, would be very helpful.

Add documents from one project to another
When I upload a file in the documents section of a project, I may need that same file in another project. It would be great to choose to add it to another project without uploading it again.

button instead of enter key
Add a Sumbit button to ticket & task entry instead of the enter keystroke. Consistently seeing people on my team (myself included) hitting "enter" to start a new paragraph in a ticket or task, and unintentionally and prematurely submitting the task. It's easy to update the task from there, but inefficient. It is hard to re-train oneself to adapt to this, since enter is used all day long in other software to start a new paragraph, and few of my Projecturf users are using the tool all day long like I am.

add project backlog functionality
Scrum/Agile project methodologies have a concept of a "project backlog" - a holding area of ideas/wishlists/features that have NOT yet been done, but can be requested by the client and are then time estimated/costed/business criticality defined - so you can work out the next build! This is FANTASTIC for getting a lot of future work from a client and keeping a project alive and moving forward! See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_%28development%29#Product_backlog for a definition :-) And vote it UP!

Ability to add duration and calculate start date automatically
Ability to add duration and calculate start date automatically based on your deadline.
When you know your deadline, you can work your way back by inputting the duration of each task and have the schedule adjust automatically. (This should take into consideration work days only and possible holidays). Would correspond to WORDAY in Excel. Would save a LOT time when creating schedules.16 votes -

Approval for bug/issue closure
When an issue is assigned to a user, the user should send it for approval to the person who assigned it before actually able to close the issue

replace project category with tags
This would allow companies with lots of ongoing projects to search for projects that meet a certain criteria

Add a start time and end time to tasks or link events to tasks.
This would help schedule the entire day.

Allow System Admin, Project System admin & the project manager the ability to key in Time Log for Staff
Our Staff are trainers who conduct training sessions for us. And some of them might forget to key in the time sheet and this affect the payment flow of the project.
As project manager is accountable for the project, the PM will also ensure that the time log is correct upon project completion. Therefore the PM should have the ability to key in time log for staff (Part Time Trainers) if the staff forget to do so.

Possibility to track the time via a simple widget (in the dashboard macos x)

Make groups act as single, abstracted collections of users
Currently, groups are only used as shortcuts for selecting multiple users. If I give a group permission to a file, for example, and later add a user to that group, they do not have access to the file. This makes adding people to a project VERY painful.

Add Customizable Fields to Task Creation
Our workflow requires users that create New Tasks to enter a certain set of data (product size, product title, brand name, formula number, etc.). Add customizable fields like this to Task Creation and include a "lock" that will not allow tasks to be created without this data set, i.e., as with any web form that has "required fields".

Have a summary view within the global calendar
The global calendar can lose its value if there are many projects with many tasks in the system. I see this view as an overview of current project commitments but it can become easily cluttered.
It would be useful to have a summary view. In this view events and tasks associated with a project would be collapsed into one entry per day (in the month view) with some indication of total number of events or tasks for that day. Opportunities to drill into each project could be provided onclick or onhover of the summary.
This would provide this quick summary…

Add a cross-project and per-project kanban board
Add a per-project kanban board with the classical icebox, to-do, work in progress, done columns, and a cross-project one which gathers all task for a team in all the projects and allows one-point-managing of the whole thing

itemize budgeting
Being able to put together an initial budget by line item and track costs that way would be massively beneficial in knowing where we are going over in our budgets and future budgeting.
